Rabat Morocco
View of Gibraltar as we were flying from Europe to Africa.
Interior courtyard of our riad (hotel) in the medina of Rabat.
Upstairs at the riad - rooms, rooftop pool, and lounging terrace.
The framework is for putting on a cover in bad weather so that the ground floor
courtyard can still be used.
Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Parliament building. The King of Morocco, unlike the Queen of England, makes
governance decisions.
A very large cemetery that is still being used.
This older cemetery across the road is no longer in use.
View of Kasbah Oudayas and the river Bou Regreg.
Original entrance gate of Kasbah Oudayas.
The Kasbah was originally constructed as a fortress but became a residential refuge when
the Catholic Queen of Spain expelled all Jews and Muslims in the early 1600s.
The Kasbah is still a residential area and this is a very pretty front door in the Kasbah.
Serena in Kasbah Oudayas.
Hassan Tower is the incomplete minaret of an incomplete 12th century mosque.
Having a sweet tooth in the medina in Rabat looks dangerous.
Selection of Moroccan salads to start our meal at the riad. They were all delicious
(top to bottom: tomato/cucumber, bell peppers, eggplant, olives/onions)
The Moroccan wine was also good.
Great hotel! So much fun.
ReplyDeleteWe are becoming quite impressed with how long you've been out. It must be 4 months. Like one of our excursions... Nice to be retired, isn't it?
